Remember YELLE? Check Out the Video for 'Complètement Fou'
If you're anything like me, you probably heard about YELLE a few years back when "Je Veux te Voir" found its popularity on MySpace back in 2005 (then known as "Short Dick Cuizi"), then once more in 2007 with "À Cause des Garçons". The latter did eventually become my end-of-high-school anthem (I went to a French school). Mind me, I knew this one by heart.
After that, the electropop France-native trio disappeared off my map. While I stopped paying attention, they released a sophomore album titled Safari Disco Club in 2011, and toured with Katy Perry that same year. Three years later, they're back again with a third studio album, Complètement Fou, which also happens to be the title of their latest single.
The track's videoclip, directed by MAL - Milford and L'Étiquette, features a sci-fi atmosphere, popcorn bits... an oversized corn? Yelle's world is familiarly strange and intriguing, complete with awesome dancers and graphics reminiscent of a late 80s-early 90s music video (in HD of course). It's completely crazy. Love it. I'm glad to have them back in my world.
Yelle is currently on tour, making stops in the United States and in Canada (Toronto and Montreal), and finishing off in Europe. You can find out more details on their official page.
Also, if you haven't heard their previous single, "Bouquet Final", even if French electropop isn't your thing, your ears are welcomed to feast on it below.
