Falling for Red Lips (& How To Wear Them)
Red lips have always notoriously been the “it” thing for Fall. I’ve become accustomed to seeing lips turn various shades of red just as fast as the leaves do. This season is no different, as red, deep red and even red-wines are popping up on runways and all over the shops. But how’s a girl (or man; re: Tom Ford) going to pick the perfect, trusty red to carry all Fall season-long?
Good thing you clicked here.
1. Chanel Rouge Allure in 104 Passion: A beautiful neutral red, great for brunettes with light skintones.
2. Rimmel Kate Moss in 1: A slightly darker true red, perfect for tan or olive skintones.
3. MAC in Ruby Woo: A famour matte lip colour. It's bright and bold on the lips, exuding a 50s vibe.
4. NARS in Vesuvio: This colour is a deeper red and a hydrating matte finish, goes perfectly with darker complexions.
Even with all these choices, applying your perfect red can daunting, and no one wants to end up looking like the Joker. Why so serious? ;)
How To Wear Them
Step 1. Your lips should be properly exfoliated and moisturized - but not waxy or greasy from lip balm.
Step 2. Make sure you’ve evenly applied foundation around your lips, making sure not to put it onto your lips.
Step 3. Line the lips using lipliner, going just above the border of the lipline – in order to make lips look fuller. Darker lip colours can tend to make lips look thin.
Step 4. Fill in the lips with the lipstick colour of choice. Blend it in with the lipliner
Step 5. Blot the lips with a tissue, then re-apply the lipstick. This helps the lipstick last longer.
Step 6. Lightly, and subtly, highlight the cupid bow’s with a neutral highlighter. This helps in giving the effect of fuller lips.
