Montreal's Diner en Blanc: White Inspiration
Montreal’s Bal En Blanc is not the only dress-white only party that exists in the city. On Thursday August 15, the city will host the 5th edition of Montreal’s annual Dîner En Blanc, a gastronomic /sartorial urban party held in the most majestic public space of the city, the location of which is kept secret until last minute.
The Dîner en Blanc is a concept that was launched in France 25 years ago by a group of friends eager to reclaim ownership of their city and culture. The annual event has since exported itself to other capitals of the world (this year’s edition featured Haïti on the map) and now gathers 15 000 guests in its original location of Paris where the most prestigious spaces were used : The Eiffel Tower, Le Château de Versailles, Les Champs-Élysées, Le Louvre and more.
Fashion-wise, the Dîner en Blanc could not be more on cue with the growing white invasion in our casual wardrobes. The trend was popularized a few seasons ago with the black-and-white minimalist statement that would counter-balance the explosion of colors catwalk and streetstyle fashion would generously feed us with. The white has since been reintegrated its way into the everyday fashion dialogue, breaking with its austere/sage tradition for being declined in all different style and fabric. Also a hit, the LWD (little white dress) has now because a must for its feminine and carnation flattering stake, leaving behind the bridal connotation it once had.
The dark days are over, so have a look at our favorites white looks, whether your style is bohemian-chic, minimalist, classy or rock-inspired, for an effortlessly chic and feminine look.
